It is one of the aims of EU language policy that every citizen of the Union should be able to speak two further languages in addition to her/his mother tongue. This is why language learning is strongly promoted. Interlingual teaching is the focus of a teacher education seminar on multilingual language learning. The Seminar is organized by the European society
„EuropaFELS“ and is held from September 30 to October 6 in Tramin (South Tyrol). Dana Engel, Larissa Schedel, and Elena Iwanow from the Institute for Multilingualism and Specialized Communication take part at the seminar and present the project AMuSE (Approaching Multilingual Schools in Europe). In addition, first results of a closely related project carried out in South Tyrol (SMS - One School, Many Languages) are also presented on that occasion. The results of this project show that some innovative methods of integrating multilingualism in classroom teaching are already followed in the region. Together with the participating teachers from Germany, Belgium, Poland, Croatia, and Serbia, new ideas and concepts for interlingual teaching will be discussed during the seminar.
