AMuSE visits Irish medium schools in Dublin
From May 18 to May 25, the AMuSE team at EURAC had the opportunity to travel to Dublin in order to visit Irish medium schools (Gaelscoileanna) and to carry out expert interviews with academics, principals, and policy makers on the current state of Irish medium education in Ireland. During that week, COGG (An Chomhairle um Oideachas Gaeltachta & Gaelscolaiochta), which is an Irish government institution that promotes the teaching of Irish in Irish medium schools and in the Gaeltacht areas (where Irish is spoken as a main community language), organized a one-day conference. Speakers from the ministry of education and academics discussed the current state of Irish and future language policy.
We would like to say thank you to all the people who participated in the interviews and who allowed us to get a first-hand impression of Irish immersion teaching.
